A warm welcome on the green — new members always welcome
About Us
Legh Arms Bowling Club is one of Sale's most welcoming bowling clubs, set in the grounds of the Legh Arms pub in the heart of Sale Moor. We offer a friendly, inclusive environment for players of all abilities — from complete beginners picking up a bowl for the first time to seasoned competitors.
Whether you're looking for gentle social play on a summer evening, competitive league and cup fixtures, or simply good company and a mid-game or post-game pint, you'll find it all here.
The draw has been made for this competition, which will take place on Sunday 12 July. Non-members of the Legh Arms Bowling Club will start on +1

What We Offer
We compete in local league fixtures throughout the season, giving members a chance to test their game against other local clubs. We have teams at all levels and are always looking for new players.
Not ready for league play? No problem. Our regular social roll-ups are relaxed, fun, and perfect for learning the game at your own pace alongside friendly faces.
We're based at the Legh Arms pub, so there's always a warm welcome and a great selection of drinks available at the bar. The perfect way to end any evening.
Complete beginners are warmly encouraged. Experienced members are always happy to show you the ropes — bowls is easier to learn than you might think!
We're a tight-knit, friendly club where you'll quickly feel at home. Socialising on and off the green is as much a part of membership as the sport itself.
Membership
Joining the Legh Arms Bowling Club is simple and straightforward. We welcome new members of all ages and abilities throughout the season — you don't need any experience to get started.
Pop down to the Legh Arms on a Monday or Thursday evening — no commitment needed. Watch a game, have a chat, and see if the club feels right for you.
We'll lend you a set of bowls and walk you through the basics. There's no obligation and no experience necessary — just come prepared to enjoy yourself.
If you'd like to join, simply pay your annual subscription and you'll receive your membership card.
You're now a fully-fledged member. Join practice sessions, enter competitions, play league games — the green is yours to enjoy all season long.
✓ Wear flat-soled shoes or trainers on the green
✓ No dress code - wear what you want
✓ No bowls needed — we have lots you can borrow
The Season
Our outdoor season runs from April through to September, with something happening most weeknights and often weekends too. Here's what to expect across the year:
The green reopens and members return for the first roll of the year. A great time to join — everyone's finding their feet again!
Mid-week league fixtures begin. Social evenings are in full swing — the long summer evenings make for perfect bowling conditions.
Our internal singles and pairs competitions take place around once a month. We also hold some open competitions where anyone can play.
Final league matches and competitions. The green closes around the end of the month
We hold regular work parties during the close season to keep the green and surrounds tidy. Painting, woodworking, gardening - there's always something to do and it keeps us in contact over the winter.
